Item girl apologizes religious leaders
 
An item number in 'Police Giri', remake of Bala Krishna's Lakshmi Narasimha, raked up a big religious controversy. The film featuring Sanjay Dutt as hero and directed by K S Ravi Kumar is set for release on July 5. The film got stuck in a controversy ahead of its release. 

Kavita Varma, who did an item song in the film, wore a chain with the sacred cross in her neck and the chain touched her navel area. As it was a sexy dance, Christian Secular Forum expressed anger at the use of the sacred cross and threatened to block the film. 

Baffled by this unexpected turn, producers T P Agarwal and Rahul Agarwal met the Forum's general secretary Joseph and agreed to remove the scene. They later got Kavita Varma apologize religious leaders and also announced that the scene would be deleted from the song.
